Electromagnet with removable core

This demonstration is a high guage coil of wire with a removable iron core. A plie of paper clips can be used to demonstrate that there is no magnetic effect if current isn’t flowing through the wire. The core can be removed and then inserted to demonstrate that the effect is much stronger with a ferromagnetic core. Note:there is no resistence in this system besides a wire. It can’t be left on for long. Tell your lecture demo staff what you intend to use it for so that we can set it up safely.
