High current melts the fuse wire.
Set-up Comments:
Can we put a lamp in the circuit in series with the fuse and ammeter? This simulates the wiring in house that has fuse/ckt breaker and watt-hr meter in series with all the combined appliances. The lamp is bright. When the lamp is “shorted” by us with a wire, the current does not pass through the lamp and it goes dim. Too much current passes through the short and the fuse; the fuse melts (“blows”). Stops all current through the circuit.
