An assortment of identical metal spheres are confined to an annular ring at an elevation significantly greater than their starting position. A central motor gives these spheres energy to simulate the (nonzero energy) ground state of a quantum mechanical system. Over time some of the beads will escape the system; providing an analogue for particles experiencing quantum tunneling.
