3 cm. microwave transmitter and receiver. This is a simpler setup than in D+5+18. In the transmitter, power is supplied to a klystron that produces 3 cm. microwaves (polarized) which are radiated out from the horn. In the receiver, microwaves are funnelled into the horn and down the waveguide. The microwaves are detected by a diode, and the signal amplitude can be displayed on the milliammeter, or can be heard as a tone emitted from the speaker.
